Dvorak's rendition of the spiritual, which he used to write one of the movements from his "New World" symphony, has been condensed into a small ensemble setting. The unhurried character of the piece accentuates the rich voicings and use of harmonies, giving the listener time to enjoy the sonorous character of handbells when used in this fashion. The music makes a suitable offertory for any church service as well as a nice contrast for any secular program.
