Lord Jesus, I Love Thee

The gentle character of this familiar hymn has been emphasized in this meditative arrangement. The lowest part provides a gentle, slow-moving but constant ostinato against which the middle two parts paint various quietly descending harmonic lines. The piece moves through three sections, each separated from the others by short interludes. It gradually works from a gentle, quiet beginning through a somewhat plaintive minor section and back to a bold restatement of the first section. The final interlude gently fades away to a reflection of the beginning. The work makes an excellent offertory or prelude for a church service.
