Details
William Byrd's little composition is an excellent introduction to the art of small ensemble literature and techniques. The use of repeats and repeated patterns, as well as the one-page length, help to make the piece easier to master. The repeated sections lend themselves to the use of terraced dynamics (contrasting loud and soft iterations of the same section) in the performance of the piece. The music is suitable for either secular or church use. - Additional Information
